God’s plan for you!

Why were you born? What is the purpose of your life? What is God’s will for you?

We spend years worrying about these questions? We read books, travel to conferences and spend our time and energy in the pursuit of answers to these questions.

We all want to live fruitful and fulfilled lives. We want to live in God’s plan for our life.

I believe that the purpose of your life is simple. To trust in Jesus and live a life of love. A life of love that leads people in their next step to live and love like Jesus.

Jesus came and he showed us how to live. He lived a life of receiving God’s love as he lived in deep communion with his Father and then Jesus poured out God’s love to the world around him. Jesus revealed the love of God to people who then put their trust in Jesus.

Jesus then died on the cross. The ultimate act of selfless love. He died in order to get rid of our sin and selfishness and pride. Jesus then rose again and today he sits in heaven. When we turn from trusting in ourselves and we trust in Jesus and his work on the cross, we are freed from our sin. The Holy Spirit makes his home in our life and he fills us with God’s love as we trust in Jesus Christ.

Each day your purpose is to let go. To stop being in control. To trust in Jesus and let the Holy Spirit pour God’s love into your heart.

Your purpose is to live IN God’s love for you. To let God’s love surround you.

His full is full of power. His love is fun of light and hope and his love is kind and patient. His love is truth. His love is a holy presence that we can know and feel.

Your purpose is to let God’s love flow through you and to love God, yourself and the world around you.

Often we get stressed about what job we are called to do or what ministry we are called to have. I think we need to chill a bit. When you get to the end of your life, the question that is important is whether you were faithful in living a life of letting God’s love pour out through your life? Did you lay your life down in order to serve others through a life of love? Did you live a life of love that pointed people to Jesus.

Your ministry. Your job and vocation. We get so stressed about these things. When we realise that our purpose is to love people in a way that leads them to Jesus, then we begin to realise that our ministry and job are less important. These are are just ways through which you can grow in learning to live a life of love.

An other way of seeing it, is that God’s plan for you is know his love and live a life of love. Now you get to live out God’s plan for your life as you discover and use the gifts and talents God has given you.

As you teach or design or create or make, you can live a life of service that loves people.

Over the course of your life, you will probably have different jobs. Different ways in which you do ministry. Different places in which you live. You will develop in different gifts at different times. All of these things can and will change. In fact it is the change and the journey of discovery that can bring joy and adventure to your life. Through the adventure of your life you can be secure that God’s plan for your life will never change. To live a life of love.

Sometimes God will lead you into a job or a ministry.

Very often you won’t feel God speaking or leading you. We have a choice in these times. We can stress or we can trust in Jesus. We can relax and realise that God has already given us his plan for our lives. To live a life of love that leads people to Jesus. He has also already given us gifts and talents. The adventure of our life is that we get to discover what we enjoy and the gifts God has already placed in us.

In the times where we don’t know what ministry or job we are called to do or even what gifts we have, there are things we can do to help ourselves.

The first thing, is that we can serve. Serve in your community. Serve in church. Serve on a mission trip. For me, I have found that serving in church and serving people around me is the best way of learning to love. Serving is also a great way to discover what I enjoy. Through serving I have discovered gifts I didn’t know I had. Serving is a great way for others to begin to see the gold in you that you didn’t even know that you had. Through service you can also begin to discover what brings you life.

The second thing that will help you is community. I have found that people who are connected in a healthy way to their natural families seem to find it easier to use their gifting and they have a confidence to step into jobs and ministries.

Maybe you don’t have healthy family connections? God has provided another family that we can be connected to. The church. The family of God. When we connect into a healthy church we often find that we discover our gifting, our ministries and our job and vocation. In healthy spiritual connections we find that there is a confidence to step out into the gifting that God has given us.

You are unique. You were born at this time in history for a reason. You have a specific mix of gifts and talents and abilities. God wants you to use what he has placed in you to be creative in living a life of love that leads many people to Jesus.
